A fine Walnut veneered Late 17th C. Early 18th C. eight day longcase clock
With a five pilar movement by Henry Thornton of London 1692-1730. Apprenticed to Samuel Stevens 6th June 1692. Freedom of the clockmaker's Company 5th Feb 1699. His clocks recorded as being a longcase playing 6 tunes (seen in Moscow), two large chiming clocks ( Winter Palace, St. Petersburg, and Troitsa Monastery nr. Moscow). Two watches with chatelaines one hallmarked 1729-30 (both in the Tsar's collection). This clock has been in Private collection since 1930.
